Welcome to the M.A.P. Constituent Guidebook Welcome! Whether you’re a curious newcomer or a seasoned wellness practitioner, we’re excited to guide you through the M.A.P. Constituent Guidebook . Our goal is to make the science of essential oils accessible and easy to understand while remaining true to the facts. In this introduction, you’ll discover what makes each vital oil unique, why purity and potency are so important (hint: our Pure.Drop.Guarantee has you covered), and how factors like your own diet and stress levels can influence an oil’s effects on you. Consider this your empowering roadmap for selecting and using essential oils effectively to support your health and wellness. Let’s dive in and explore nature’s liquid treasures together! The Complex Symphony of Essential Oils

Essential oils are more than just nice scents – they’re like a symphony of natural compounds all playing in harmony. Each drop contains dozens (sometimes hundreds) of different molecules working together, and in nature, no single constituent works alone . Research shows that the whole oil, with all its constituents, creates a more beneficial effect than any isolated compound on its own . This beautiful complexity is one reason essential oils can have such versatile benefits. Just as an orchestra’s combined sound is richer than a lone violin, an essential oil’s whole.profile often offers broader wellness support and even greater safety than a single ingredient by itself. Understanding the concept of “teamwork” within each oil helps explain why two oils with a similar main ingredient can still behave differently. For example, scientists found that pure eucalyptus oil was

far more effective at killing airborne germs than its primary constituent, 1,8-cineole, used alone. The other “backup” molecules in eucalyptus, which we might think of as supporting players, enhanced the overall cleansing power of the oil. In other words, the whole really is greater than the sum of its parts. Every oil is a unique symphony of major, active, and passive compounds, and this guidebook will help you appreciate each melody. Purity, Potency, and the Pure Drop Guarantee Not all essential oils are created equal. The quality and purity of an oil significantly impact its effectiveness . Unfortunately, there is no official grading system for essential oils – terms like “therapeutic grade” are marketing terms that anyone can use without substantiation. An oil is either *pure* or it isn’t, and purity can only be verified by scientific testing. That’s why we’re so passionate about our **Pure Drop Guarantee**, which ensures every bottle you use is 100% pure, potent, and free of junk you don’t want. We source ethically and test rigorously so you can have complete confidence in each drop. How do we guarantee purity and potency? We turn to advanced lab testing . For example, we use Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry ( GC/MS ) testing. This state-of-the-art process identifies every component in an essential oil and the exact amount of each. Think of this as creating a *chemical fingerprint* for the oil. In fact, we’ve developed a unique **Fingerprint Profile Database** process to pinpoint the main compounds in each oil. Every batch of oil is tested against this fingerprint to ensure it matches our high standards, with only minor natural variations from harvest to harvest. The result? Consistent, high-quality oils every time, backed by our Pure Drop Guarantee. You get the *real deal* – potent plant goodness with nothing added and nothing taken away.

Major, Active, and Passive Constituents (The “M.A.P.”)

Essential oils are complex, so we’ve created the M.A.P. system to make it easier to understand what’s inside each one. M.A.P. stands for Major, Active, and Passive constituents – three groups of compounds that each oil contains. Here’s a quick guide to what those terms mean: • Major Constituents: These are the primary.players in an oil – the compounds found in the highest amounts. Major constituents usually define an oil’s signature aroma and a big part of its effect. For instance, menthol is a major constituent in peppermint oil, which gives it that familiar minty coolness, and linalool is a major constituent in lavender. Major contestants are like the lead actors in a film: they set the stage and drive the main action. • Active Constituents: These are the power.hitters. Although they may not be as abundant, they have notable therapeutic effects. Active constituents are often well- known to science for their specific

benefits. Think of them as scene- stealers or specialists. For example, 1,8 -cineole in eucalyptus is an active constituent renowned for its respiratory support, and although it’s a major component of eucalyptus, in some oils, an active constituent might be present in a smaller amount yet pack a significant punch. These compounds are the ones that research often focuses on for health benefits. • Passive Constituents: These are the supporting.cast. They’re the numerous other compounds present in smaller quantities. Don’t let the name “passive” fool you – while they don’t take a leading role individually, they contribute to the oil’s overall balance, stability, and subtle nuances. Passive constituents can modulate how the majors and actives work, smooth out an oil’s aroma, or help ensure that the oil isn’t too overpowering in any one direction. In our analogy, they’re like background musicians or team members who make sure everything runs smoothly and harmoniously. All three types – major, active, and passive – work together in each drop of oil. Imagine that an essential oil is like a jazz band: the majors are playing the main melody, the actives deliver those exciting solo riffs, and the passives keep the rhythm and harmony flowing in the background. When you understand who the players are, you can better appreciate why each oil has its unique personality and effects . In this guidebook, we’ll often refer to an oil’s So, what happens when you inhale the aroma of lavender or apply a drop of peppermint oil? Those major, active, and passive constituents come into play, interacting with your body’s systems. Each constituent has a unique shape and chemical profile that can influence us in different ways. For example, some bind to receptors in our nervous system, others interact with our cells or enzymes, and still others act as antioxidants or support our immune system. For example, the main ingredients of lavender (like linalool and linalyl acetate) are believed to exert calming effects by interacting with the brain’s GABA receptors . The same receptors help regulate anxiety. This is a bit like finding the right key for a lock: the constituents are the keys, and our body’s receptors are the locks. When they match, a beneficial action can occur (such as muscles relaxing or mood lifting). major, active, and passive constituents to explain how it works. How These Constituents Work in Your Body

Different oils have different “keys,” which is why lavender relaxes you, peppermint might energize you, and tea tree oil can help cleanse and purify. Many active constituents even have documented targets in the body – for instance, menthol in peppermint binds to cold-sensitive receptors, which is why it gives a cooling sensation. It’s a fascinating dance between nature and our biology . And remember that synergy we talked about? Often, it’s the combination of several constituents working together on multiple pathways in your body that creates the overall effect of an oil. The major constituent might be doing heavy lifting, but those active and passive ones are reinforcing the impact of reducing side effects. This natural teamwork is one reason essential oils can be so effective yet generally gentle. Your Unique Chemistry and Individual Response Here’s something empowering to keep in mind: You are unique , and so is your response to essential oils. The way an oil affects you can depend on a variety of personal factors , including your internal chemistry and lifestyle. If you’ve noticed that a remedy works wonders for a friend but only mildly for you (or vice versa), it’s not your imagination. Our bodies have their own quirks! Some of the factors that can influence how an essential oil works for an individual include: • Internal pH and Body Chemistry: The subtle acid- alkaline balance in our tissues can affect how compounds behave. For example, a person with a very acidic system might experience an oil differently than someone with a more alkaline system. This isn’t usually drastic, but it can affect how well constituents are absorbed or bound in the body. • Diet and Nutrition: What we eat affects our biochemistry. A nutrient -rich diet might make your system

more receptive, whereas a diet high in processed foods could create more oxidative stress in the body. Even hydration matters – being well-hydrated can help your body distribute and utilize oil constituents more effectively. • Stress and Emotions: High stress levels can flood your body with hormones like cortisol, which might change how you respond to an oil. For instance, oil meant to calm might require a higher dose or more time to work if you’re incredibly stressed. Conversely, using calming oils proactively might help balance those stress hormones. Our emotional state can also influence our perception of an oil’s effects ( have you ever noticed how a scent seems more potent when you're tense?).

• Individual Metabolism & Genetics: We all process chemicals at different rates. Your metabolic speed, liver enzyme patterns, and even genetic factors can influence how quickly you absorb an oil and how long it lasts. This is similar to how one person might metabolize caffeine or medication faster than another. Some people are more sensitive to certain constituents as well – for example, one person might find a drop of oregano oil on the skin warming and pleasant, while another finds it very hot. These differences are normal. The key point is that each person’s body is wonderfully unique so that an essential oil experience can be slightly different from one individual to the next. This is why we encourage a bit of personal experimentation (within safe usage guidelines) to find what works best for you. If an oil doesn’t seem to be doing much, it doesn’t mean essential

oils “don’t work” – it might mean you need a different application method, a combination with another oil, or simply a bit more time for your system to respond. On the other hand, if you find an oil works amazingly well for you, take note of the conditions that made it so effective (your mindset, environment, etc.), as these can be clues to maximizing its benefits. Empowering Your Essential Oil Journey Knowledge is truly power when it comes to natural wellness. Now that you have a clearer understanding of an oil’s complexity, purity, and how it interacts with both the body and your unique self , you’re better equipped to make the most of these gifts of nature. Here are a few tips to help you confidently select and apply essential oils effectively: • Choose Quality First: Always start with pure, high-quality oils. An oil that meets standards like our Pure Drop Guarantee ensures you’re getting the full benefit of those major, active, and passive constituents— and nothing unwanted. High purity means high potency, so you’ll use the oil knowing it’s as nature intended. Don’t hesitate to check if GC/MS test reports are available – transparency is a good sign of quality. • Match the Oil to Your Goal: Each essential oil has its own strengths. Consider what you want to achieve and select an oil whose primary constituents align with that goal. For example, if you need relaxation, oils high in calming constituents, such as linalool in lavender, are a great choice. If you want an energizing environment, choose something with refreshing activities, such as limonene in citrus oils or menthol in peppermint. The M.A.P. information in this guidebook will help you identify which oils are best suited for specific needs. • Start Low and Slow: Because everyone’s body responds differently, begin with a small amount of oil and observe how you feel. A single drop applied diluted if on the skin, or a few minutes of inhalation is often enough to gauge the effect. You can always add a bit more if needed. This approach respects your individual sensitivity and helps you find your personal “sweet spot” for each oil. • Listen to Your Body: You are your own best wellness advocate. Pay attention to the signals your body gives you when you use an oil. Do you feel relaxed? More alert? Any discomfort? These cues will guide you in adjusting how you use the oil – perhaps you discover that you prefer diffusing an oil rather than applying it topically or that morning use works better for you than evening use. There’s no one-size- fits -all, so trust yourself and use the oils in ways that make you feel good and supported. Lastly, remember that exploring essential oils is a journey . We’re here to support you with science-backed information and our quality promise every step of the way. Feel encouraged to experiment (safely), ask questions, and embrace the learning process. Each essential oil has a unique story to tell through its constituents, and everyone, like you, has a unique response. With knowledge from this guidebook, you have the tools to craft a personalized approach to your wellness. We hope you feel empowered and excited to select and apply essential oils with confidence. Here’s to your health, happiness, and the wonderful discoveries ahead in your aromatherapy journey! Enjoy the guidebook and the many benefits that a deeper understanding of essential oils will bring to y ou and those you care about.

Scientific Overview of Essential Oil Applications Essential oils are widely utilized for their physiological and psychological benefits, demonstrating efficacy in both emotional and physical wellness applications. Their bioactive compounds interact with the body through various mechanisms, making them a valuable adjunct in holistic and integrative health practices. Modes of Administration Essential oils can be applied via three primary methods, each offering distinct therapeutic advantages: Aromatic Diffusion – Volatile compounds released into the air via diffusers facilitate olfactory reception, which stimulates the limbic system, a brain region responsible for emotions, memory, and autonomic functions. This method is often used for mood regulation, cognitive enhancement, and stress alleviation. Topical Application – Essential oils are absorbed through the skin, interacting with localized tissues and systemic circulation. Due to their high potency, dilution with carrier oils (e.g., grapeseed or camelina is recommended to mitigate dermal sensitivity and slow down absorption for sensitive skin types. Topical applications are frequently utilized for pain relief, anti - inflammatory effects, and skin health. Internal Consumption – Certain essential oils are GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) for internal use when consumed in regulated doses as dietary supplements. This mode of administration may support digestive health, immune function, and cellular detoxification. However, under expert guidance, internal use should only be undertaken to prevent adverse effects. Safety and Precautions While essential oils are naturally derived and exhibit a favorable safety profile, their potent concentration necessitates responsible usage. Adhering to the following guidelines, it ensures maximal therapeutic efficacy with minimal risk: Use Guidance: First- time users are encouraged to consult certified aromatherapists for personalized recommendations and safe application techniques. Avoid Sensitive Areas: Essential oils should never be applied directly to the eyes or inner ear canal, as mucosal membranes are highly sensitive to concentrated compounds. Dilution for Sensitivity: In cases of skin irritation or redness, essential oils should be combined with carrier oils, as water does not dilute essential oils and may exacerbate irritation. Consult Healthcare Providers: Pregnant individuals under medical supervision should seek professional consultation before use to ensure compatibility with existing health conditions and medications. Conclusion Essential oils represent a powerful, science - backed approach to holistic wellness, offering profound benefits when used appropriately. Their efficacy is influenced by botanical sourcing, extraction methods, and application techniques, reinforcing the importance of quality and informed usage. Responsible administration and adherence to safety guidelines can effectively integrate essential oils into daily health regimens to support physical vitality and emotional balance.

WARNING - all citrus essential oils are photosensitive when exposed to sunlight. All citrus essential oils can be used topically if the user avoids sun exposure after applied to the skin.

Simply place a drop of essential oil on the back of your and lick it off

Less Is More: Pure Drop Essential oils are packed with powerful constituents in every drop. One drop is sufficient to provide every cell in the body with vital resources in seconds. Do not fall into the trap of “if a little is good, a lot must be even better!" Too much exposure to the potent constituents of our essential oils in a short period of time could overstimulate the body's response and create a "healing crisis." Detox Warning: Essential oils aid in the removal of toxins from within the body. As such, detox symptoms (aka "a healing crisis") such as headaches, nausea, or a rash may occur. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms , drink plenty of water to help flush out the toxins and discontinue using essential oils until symptoms subside. Monitor future use closely to avoid recurrent symptoms. Seizure Disorders: People with a history of seizures and who are under a doctor's care should exercise caution when using these essential oils. Dermal Sensitivity: If you experience any sensitivity reactions to these essential oils, DO NOT FLUSH WITH WATER; instead, immediately apply a carrier oil to the area to dilute the effect and soothe the skin. Pregnancy: Always use essential oils in moderation and knowledgeably when pregnant. Be particularly cautious with blends that contain clary sage, Peppermint, and Chamomile, as hormone-modulating essential oils may stimulate premature contractions.

Essential Oils – Production Techniques Steam Distillation Method

Steam distillation is the most widely employed technique in essential oil production. This process involves the passage of steam through botanical material, which facilitates the rupture of plant cells containing volatile compounds. As the steam extracts these essential oils, it carries them to a condensation chamber, where the temperature is reduced to separate the volatile constituents from the hydrosol (the water soluble fraction of the plant). Essential oils, being hydrophobic and less dense than water, naturally rise to the surface, allowing for efficient separation. Several factors,

including the botanical species, harvesting time, and distillation parameters, such as temperature, pressure, and duration, influence the therapeutic efficacy of the distilled oil . Even minimal variations in pressure can lead to structural degradation of key bioactive compounds, ultimately reducing the oil’s potency and effectiveness . Cold-Pressed Extraction Method

The cold press extraction method is primarily used for citrus essential oils , as these botanicals contain oil-rich rinds highly sensitive to thermal degradation. This technique, also known as scarification , involves mechanically rupturing the oil sacs within the peel to release essential oils without exposing them to heat. Because heat can alter or destroy volatile therapeutic constituents, this method is optimal for preserving the bioactivity and purity of citrus derived essential oils.

Strainer

The potency and composition of cold-pressed essential oils depend on multiple factors, including the plant’s origin, cultivation conditions, harvesting methods, and post harvest storage . Be Young Essential Oils ensures that botanicals used in this process are organically cultivated in their native environments and harvested under conditions that optimize the retention of beneficial compounds. The extraction technique selected for each botanical is determined by its specific chemical profile , emphasizing maximizing the therapeutic properties. Essential oil production is a highly intricate process, where even minute alterations in distillation pressure or extraction conditions can significantly decline efficacy . Therefore, meticulous attention to geographical conditions, climate, soil composition, and expert distillation techniques is paramount in yielding high-quality, therapeutically potent essential oils. Essential Oils and THE BODY How Essential Oils Work in the Body: A Scientific Perspective

To understand how essential oils exert their effects on the body, it is vital to explore their unique molecular chemistry . Unlike heavier "fatty oils" such as olive or avocado oil, essential oils are composed of extremely small, volatile molecules . This small molecular size gives essential oils powerful therapeutic properties and versatility in application. Volatility and Aromatic Properties The molecular structure of essential oils allows them to vaporize at room temperature , enabling them to be easily inhaled. This characteristic defines the practice of

Fatty Oils or Carrier Oils

aromatherapy , where the inhalation of volatile plant compounds can stimulate receptors in the nasal cavity. These receptors are directly connected to the olfactory bulb , which in turn links to the limbic system of the brain— the center for emotion, memory, and behavior. Essential oils can produce rapid emotional and physiological responses through this pathway, influencing mood, stress levels, and cognitive function. Cellular Penetration and the Blood -Brain Barrier Due to their small and lipophilic (fat - soluble) molecular nature, essential oils are capable of crossing cellular membranes and even the blood-brain barrier , which is a highly selective membrane that protects the central nervous system. Critical oils have a unique advantage in delivering active compounds to brain tissue, where they can support neurological function, influence neurotransmitters, and contribute to emotional regulation. In contrast, many synthetic drugs are too large or chemically incompatibl e to penetrate this barrier effectively. Systemic Absorption Through the Skin (Transdermal Delivery)

Essential oils are also transdermal , which can be absorbed through the skin and enter the bloodstream. When applied topically, they bypass the digestive system and deliver their active constituents directly to affected tissues. Scientific studies have shown that essential oils can reach various or gans within minutes of topical application. This rapid absorption and systemic distribution allow essential oils to support immune function, reduce inflammation, and address multiple physical concerns efficiently.

Conclusion The efficacy of essential oils lies in their chemical complexity and molecular agility . Their ability to act through inhalation, topical absorption, and cellular interaction sets them apart from synthetic agents. Thanks to their fast- acting pathways and interaction with key systems in the body, these oils can influence physical health and play a profound role in emotional and mental well -being. When used correctly, essential oils represent a scientifically grounded and natural approach to holistic health and wellness .

Personal Experiences 'I just wanted to share this with everybody because I had an unusual experience with spider bites this summer. As usual I grabbed the Helichrysum and Cypress, but by the end of the day, it was still red, swollen, and itched like crazy. I kept using the above oils, but by morning, the redness had increased; I was concerned. Then, I decided to try (a suggested) pain mix because of the oregano in it. At the end of the day, most of the redness was gone, and there was no itching. I was bitten again and just went for the mix. This time, a scab formed after a couple of days. Since then, I've learned that it was baby Cat Face Spiders I was dealing with. The mix is 1 T. Carrier oil, six drops Oregano, eight drops Peppermint, four drops of Lavender. I have a lot (sic) people using this recipe. They love it!!" T. Fry, UT

"My 14-year-old niece has what is possibly a cracked rib. I was at her house for a BBQ, and she was wincing in pain and seemed to be having difficulty breathing through it. I told her I had my oils with me and asked if she would let me put some on her, ~ the one I had was specifically for pain, and bones. She adamantly refused, stating that they "do not work. “Well, about 3 minutes later, I deduced she didn't get a choice in the matter. I had her smell a blend of birch oil first to address the pain, because I knew she wouldn't let me actually put anything directly on her rib. Then I had her smell blend for the crown chakra, and told her, "It smells so good, you can use it as a perfume," and sneakily put it across her shoulders. Then I had her smell, Birch. About 10 seconds later, she said with an astonished look, "Hey, the pain is gone!" HA!!! So then, of course, she let me put the oils topically on the rib. just goes to prove, once again, that the oils work whether you are a believer or not!" -K. Witt, UT

''When I met the world Essential Oils in November of 2010, my body felt lifeless due to suffering from pulmonary sarcoidosis. At least 5 times a week, I couldn’t breathe properly. Due to heavy, long-term use of prescription steroids, I have also lost partial vision in my Left eye and complete vision in my right eye. My pupil was sunken in the right side of my face, and the right side of my face was disfigured; also, the whites of my eyes were discolored. After I began using Essential Oils, my right eye began to move forward as much as 85%, and my face no longer appeared disfigured! I now have mobility of my right eye as well; instead of a brownish hue, the whites of my eyes are now light and white. I will never be without my Essential Oils. More recently, Dana was able to direct me to a specific protocol of essential oils to help reverse some of the other cellular problems in my body. I can see significant changes and no longer need to waste my time at the doctor's office. I'm forever I am grateful for my Essential Oils. -K. Ypsilanti, MI

Essential Oils- ARE THEY SAFE?

You will want to use exceptionally pure Essential Oils, which are highly effective when used correctly. These natural compounds are derived from aromatic plants and are composed of potent phytochemicals that exert therapeutic effects on the body. Because of their concentrated nature, essential oils must be used with both respect and understanding .

Essential oils are lipophilic (fat-soluble) and have small molecular structures , allowing them to be rapidly absorbed through the skin and mucous membranes and, in some cases, even cross the blood - brain barrier. This makes them powerful tools for supporting physical, emotional, and mental well - being, but it also highlights the importance of precise dosing and appropriate application . Essential oils offer safe, natural, and effective body support in the right hands. However, improper use —such as excessive dosage, undiluted topical application of potent oils, or frequent internal use without guidance —can overwhelm the body and lead to skin sensitivity, irritation , or undesired systemic effects . To ensure the safest and most beneficial experience, we encourage a mindful approach to essential oil use. This includes understanding the constituent chemistry of each oil and being aware of any contraindications or sensitivities. Suggested Usage Guidelines: • Start with 1–2 drops of essential oil, 1 to 3 times per day . • Always consider dilution with a carrier oil for topical application, especially when using oils on sensitive skin or with children. • For internal use, be sure the oil is labeled as safe for ingestion and consult with a qualified practitioner. • For detailed, oil - specific usage recommendations, refer to our Quick Reference Guide on pages IX and X of this guidebook . Essential oils are not “one size fits all,” but they offer tremendous therapeutic potential when used intelligently. Be Young Essential Oils are designed to support you with the highest standards of purity and efficacy , allowing you to experience the true power of nature in its most concentrated form.

Identifying th e- 10 Body Systems

A foundational principle in any effective natural health practice is a clear understanding of the Ten Body Systems. These systems— each with its own distinct function in harmony to maintain homeostasis , the body’s state of dynamic equilibrium. Supporting the integrity of organs, glands, tissues, and structural frameworks is essential for optimal wellness. Each of the Ten Body Systems operates both independently and interdependently , meaning that dysfunction in one system can have cascading effects across others. Every symptom, whether minor or severe, can be traced back to an imbalance or disruption within one or more of these systems. Therefore, identifying the originating system behind a health challenge provides critical insight into its root cause and guides effective preventative and restorative strategies. Essential Oils formulated with precision and care contain a wide spectrum of biologically active constituents. These constituents— categorized as Major, Active, and Passive — demonstrate a natural affinity for communicating with specific cells and tissues within targeted body systems. This guidebook provides a comprehensive breakdown of which essential oils influence each of the Ten Body Systems based on their biochemical profiles . These interactions can occur singularly or synergistically , enabling more tailored and effective support for the system in need. Once the imbalanced system is identified, selecting the appropriate essential oil becomes a scientific, evidence - informed process , eliminating guesswork and enhancing confidence in application. Pure Essential Oils empower users with intelligent tools to address both the underlying causes and manifested symptoms of imbalance, supporting a holistic return to wellness. 10 Body Systems
